Lili Newland, Michael’s granddaughter, has raised over £8,000 for The LVE Charitable Foundation by climbing to Everest Base Camp.  Lili, who is just 16 years old, undertook the Everest adventure with classmates from her school, walking tens of miles a day in zero temperatures.  Base Camp was at an altitude of 16,700 feet. Lili and her classmates carried all of their own equipment and possessions over the 14 day walk and climb.  They were without mobile phones and WiFi too!

Her money will fund important projects run by the Foundation that will help empower other young people who, through no fault of their own, need a helping hand to gain a firm foothold, as they step onto the ladder of their young, adult lives.

Says Lili, “ My intention is to raise as much as I can for The LVE Charitable Foundation, a charity founded by my grandfather to provide opportunities for young people in east and north London for whom life has been tough. The Foundation provides sustained and targeted opportunities relevant to the needs of those whom it serves.”

Well done Lilli!
